Counsellor – Amputee Rehabilitation, 8 hours (1 day per week), North Bristol NHS Trust, £43,772 (pro rata) + excellent NHS benefits

A Counsellor in Amputee Rehabilitation is required by one of the UK’s largest NHS Hospital Trusts.

Based at Southmead Hospital with a basic of up to £43,722 (pro rata) + excellent NHS benefits, you will work as an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team of professionals to support service users in their rehabilitation with an artificial limb and promote independent living.

As Counsellor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a counselling service for service users, their families and carers to address a variety of complex issues such as post-traumatic stress, depression, phobias and adjustment to loss
  • Offering counselling either on the wards at NBT, as an out-patient or in surrounding hospitals as appropriate
  • Liaising with GP’s and other psychology services to arrange counselling local to individual patients
  • Providing counselling to parents and families for children born with a congenital deficit

The successful Counsellor will have good experience including:

  • Significant and relevant post qualification experience working as a counsellor
  • Working with children, families and couples
  • Knowledge of specialist psychological interventions relevant to this client group
  • Working both independently and within a team
