A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as a workplace staff counsellor within the Occupational Health Department.

We are looking to recruit one (or more) qualified (and accredited) counsellors to work on our Bank, who enjoy the flexibility of sessional work.

This could be one day per week for short blocks of 6 – 8 weeks to help the service manage periods of high service demands.

The post holders will provide Counselling Services to the employees of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and any employer who contract with the Trust for Counselling, ensuring those who seek counselling support are directed to the most appropriate direction for their needs.

Duties will include assessment of new referrals and clients’ suitability for counselling; carrying out face to face counselling sessions and provision of individual support plans and referral of clients to relevant services, where required.

You will support development and delivery of the Trust’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy contributing to Trust/Occupational Health initiatives as appropriate.

Applicants are invited who have a recognised professional qualification to diploma level or equivalent e.g., BACP recognised course or equivalent i.e., 450 hours skills and theory, 120 hours of supervised practice, 20 hours of personal therapy.

You will hold BACP accreditation or be eligible and working towards accreditation with the relevant associated hours of practice.

You will have experience of working as a student /entry level counsellor with continued supervision. You must have the ability to make use of clinical supervision, evidenced by a counselling supervisor’s statement to fulfil professional clinical supervision requirements.

You will also have excellent listening, communications and interpersonal skills and be able to work as a multi-disciplinary team member.

You will be supported in your role by a team of experienced specialist practitioners and you will be given the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in keeping with personal development plan.
