Salary Scale: St. Richard’s Hospice Payscale Pay Point 11 – 12 (£24,430 – £26,933 pro rata per annum)

St. Richard’s Hospice cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days through our community teams, our newly developed state-of-the-art day centre and our seventeen beds. We offer care and encouragement to our patients, enabling them to take control of their lives as their condition changes and also offer support to their families and carers.

We currently have an opportunity for a Counsellor within the Family Support Service, to work with the Bereavement Support South Worcestershire and St Richard’s Hospice counselling service. This post will provide support for those bereaved through sudden and traumatic death, and for hospice patients and their families who are dealing with emotional and psychological problems as a consequence of loss and grief .

The post holder is to work 2 days per week to include Monday and either Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday with the required hours being 11am to 7pm on one of the days and 9am to 5pm on the other.

The successful applicant will have a recognised degree or diploma in Counselling/ Psychotherapy.   You will be expected to be member of BACP or other appropriate professional body and maintain your professional competence. Experience of working with palliative care and bereavement and counselling in end of life situations is preferred.

The post holder will carry an active caseload of clients dealing with complex psychological and emotional issues.
