The Student Wellbeing Service is a multi-disciplinary team providing professional support to students, working in collaboration with colleagues and departments across the institution in the promotion of positive mental wellbeing for our students.
The team comprises; The Disability Team, The Counselling Team, Mental Health Advisers and a Wellbeing Adviser.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Student Counsellors/Therapists to join the Counselling Team.
The Counselling Service currently offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Person Centred Counselling, within a focussed short-term intervention framework.
The team offers both individual support and group sessions. The Team’s practice is influenced by the Service’s membership of the BACP.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a professional postgraduate qualification in a relevant counselling or therapeutic discipline the ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role in student support in higher education and will have a proven track in the delivery of individual and small group therapeutic initiatives.
Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health and mental health needs is essential along with an ability to formulate appropriate therapeutic interventions according to clients’ mental health presentations and to liaise and build effective relationships with internal and external representatives of other disciplines or agencies.
