Fixed term maternity cover up to 9 months, part-time, 24 hours per week


Falmouth Exeter Plus are looking to recruit a CBT therapist or Counsellor to join the Student Support team to offer therapy for students and caseload management for staff. This team contributes to student retention, engagement, achievement and satisfaction, by enabling students to develop the skills and knowledge to manage challenges and participate fully in student life.

The team is highly skilled providing information, advice, guidance, responding to a wide range of student life, welfare and mental health difficulties. The service offers a range of interventions based on review of individual circumstances, including mental health and psychological interventions such as therapy appointments, provision of online resources and referral/ liaison with external agencies. We work together flexibly, responsively and collaborate with colleagues across the university partnership and with external agencies to ensure all our students’ needs are met.


About You

The successful candidate for this role will provide effective therapeutic interventions for students, in response to wellbeing and mental health concerns. We are looking for a positive, supportive and flexible team player to join our multi-disciplinary professional support team. The successful candidate will also have experience of providing support in a relevant mental health environment, working closely with colleagues in a diverse and multi-disciplinary professional Support Team. We particularly welcome applicants with experience of providing caseload management supervision to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and other support staff.

We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

  • Substantial experience working within a mental health field, particularly with young adults.
  • Accredited individuals with substantial experience of offering therapy and caseload management.
  • Ability to remain calm and deal sensitively and effectively with difficult situations.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate and comprehensive confidential case notes.
