We are looking for a highly motivated Counsellor to join our well-established CIRCLE adult bereavement support team.  The service is open to adults living in the community of Mid Essex and based at Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford.

You will be a qualified and empathetic Counsellor with specialist knowledge of working with adults who are coping with bereavement.  Able to work face-to-face, online and by telephone, the role is for a 12-month period working as part of a team, but focusing upon our new Living with Grief programme.

The programme is being set up with funding from Essex County Council and is a new and exciting project to help those struggling to manage their loss.  The role requires you carry a caseload of clients to provide a counselling intervention of up to 8 sessions and lead a psycho-educational group to provide a dedicated and structured response that meets a range of client needs.

You will have experience of working with clients who find their grief a challenge and understand a range of models and techniques to support client wellbeing and response to their bereavement.  With excellent communication skills and a passion for service improvement within mental health care and in particular the field of loss and bereavement, another key part of the role is to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other health and care professionals in the community to deliver the best possible service for our clients.

You will be responsible for ensuring the Living with Grief programme is evaluated and delivered to the highest standards.  As an integral part of the team, you will also support the work of the rest of the bereavement service, contributing to meetings and developments across the service, and, work in close collaboration with the Living with Grief worker based in the Yo-Yo Project (delivering the programme to children and young people).

The role is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to take their first steps into the world of professional counselling.

You will be supported by a dedicated team and have access to excellent professional leadership.

In return, we offer a great working environment, a competitive pay and benefit package, flexible working and a strong team to support you. The role will be based on 37.5 hours per week worked Monday to Friday, predominantly between core office hours of 8am-5pm.  We will consider job share or part-time hours.

If you are excited as we are about the role we look forward to hearing from you.  Please contact:

Dominic Marshall, Team Leader dominic.marshall@farleighhospice.org or Mark Cobbin, Head of Bereavement – mark.cobbin@farleighhospice.org for an informal discussion.

Pay review pending

This role is Contracted until 31.03.2023

Interview Date:  26th April (8.30am-5pm) or 27th April (8.30am-12pm)

(Please note – If we receive a high number of applications we will close the vacancy before the closing date)
