Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Systemic Practitioner: Staffordshire

Salary: There is no information to display under this section.
Location: Whittington, Staffordshire
Working Hours: 28 Hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist or Systemic Practitioner to join our Hospice team. We are part of a multi-disciplinary team caring for those nearing end of life that provides physical, psychological and emotional interventions. Our counselling team offers therapeutic care for both patients and their families, working in different combinations to provide a holistic approach across the age range – we work with individuals, couples, whole families and groups. Our service is enhanced by dedicated and experienced volunteers, and many of our staff group are nationally recognised for excellence in the field.

The diagnosis of a life-limiting illness brings many life changes and challenges. Not only are there the physical and medical aspects of an illness to cope with, but other aspects, including the impact on the future, family and working life, leisure and social activities, housing and financial security. We understand that problems and difficulties arise within the context of our relationships, so we are committed to a systemic, relational approach, and endeavour to reflect this in all of our activity.

The successful applicant will assist the Family Support & Bereavement Lead in delivery of a holistic and systemic approach to referrals/casework, with those who are facing loss or who have been bereaved, in accordance with NICE guidelines. You will need to have experience of working in a health care, social care or educational setting. You will use your sound clinical practice experience to systemically assess and provide therapeutic intervention with individuals, couples and family groups of all ages, capturing strengths, and identifying needs and risks. You will carry a caseload which reflects the complex emotional and psycho-social needs of our client group, with reference to the agreed framework used by the Family Support Team. As part of your role, you will provide consultation to multi-disciplinary teams, and supervise/support clinical staff who care for patients, so an ability to facilitate and maintain a culture of team-working is essential.

Although experience of working in this field would be an advantage, it is not essential. We offer an impressive in-house training programme, undertaken by everyone who joins our team. This is structured over several months, and offers a comprehensive and substantial
training in bereavement, grief and loss. You will also receive high-quality clinical supervision and on-going support.
If this sounds like a role that you would be suited to then we would love to hear from you.

Company benefits:
To reward the hard work of our fantastic staff, St Giles hospice offers an excellent benefits package as per the below;
• 27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, (rising to 35 days with service) pro-rata’d for part time staff.
• Contributory pension scheme
• Free car parking
• Training and development opportunities as well as progression within the organisation.
