“Happy to talk flexible working”

Birmingham Hospice is looking for a Counsellor to join its Wellbeing Team.

The Wellbeing Team is a specialist therapeutic team working in the bereavement setting, helping people to help themselves.  The Wellbeing Team consists of Adult  / Children and a Spiritual service.  We are a very friendly team who strive on professionalism and providing person centred care.

As a counsellor you will be working with individuals/groups and have a busy but manageable workload.  Our aim is to see all our clients within a month of being referred. You will be working across both Hospices in Erdington and Selly Park.

We encourage applicants who can speak community languages to meet the requirements of our diverse communities.

If this sounds like the role for you then we’d love to receive your application.

About us
Birmingham Hospice provides expert palliative and end of life care for people and their families living with life-limiting illnesses.

We believe that all people in Birmingham should have access to the best specialist care and support – when, where and how they need it. Our vision is a future where everyone with a life-limiting illness will live and die with dignity and in comfort. Our mission is to enable more people from all communities to access the care of their choice at the end of life.

During a recent CQC inspection our Erdington site was rated ‘outstanding’, with independent health care regulators highlighting that colleagues and services are caring, responsive and well-led.

Our outstanding teams are passionate about providing the very best care, and patients and their loved ones are at the heart of everything we do.

Our values of kindness, respect, innovation, togetherness, positivity and openness are at the centre of who we are, what we do and how we behave. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, welcoming, caring and supportive team. We’re offering a competitive salary, with generous holiday allowance, a contribution pension scheme, and a commitment to investing in our people through employee benefits and ongoing professional development.

This post will be predominately based at Selly Park, however, there may be times where work across both hospice sites is expected.

You can download the Job Description/Person Specification, an application form and equal opportunities monitoring form by clicking on the links below.  CV’s alone will not be accepted, please ensure you complete an application form.  Please return completed forms to askhr@birminghamhospice.org.uk

Birmingham Hospice supports vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.  Clinical staff will be required to be immunised against Hep B.

All applicants are requested to provide proof of qualification and right to work documentation.  If high volumes of applications are received, we may bring the closing date forward. No recruitment agencies please.

Individuals joining the charity from the NHS or another hospice, the employee’s continuous previous service with any NHS employer is recognised in respect of pension provision and annual leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity with training opportunities available. We consider staff / team development as a priority.

Candidates can be put off applying for a job when they have caring responsibilities and may not think they can achieve the flexibility they need. We are keen to hear from you, and whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’ll try to find a practical solution.
