Counsellor Required (Godolphin and Latymer School): London

Godolphin and Latymer School

No closing date

Permanent

Part time during term time

For 1 January 2024

The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.  The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work.  The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced psychologist or psychotherapist to work alongside our pastoral team, focussing on student wellbeing, resilience and emotional health.  The successful candidate will work alongside our other school Counsellor, who works four days per week during the term time, and other members of the pastoral team including the Deputy Head (Pastoral), Heads of Section, Heads of Year, and the two school nurses.

Applicants should be qualified with a post-graduate counselling or psychotherapeutic qualification, either to Doctorate or Masters level.  They will also be accredited by the British Psychological Society, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or equivalent.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record in working with children and adolescent clients, preferably in a school or institutional setting such as CAMHS.  Some previous experience of running workshops or providing psychoeducational talks would be an advantage.  An integrative therapeutic model would be preferable, with an ability to offer CBT important.  A family therapy qualification or training would also be an advantage.

Whilst this is primarily an adolescent focussed role, experience of working with adults in a therapeutic setting is also necessary, given our school community also includes staff and parents.

This is a part time during term time role, which includes working the week in which each term starts and ends.  The contractual working hours will be 8.00am to 5.00pm.  Additional hours will be required on occasion, for example for attendance at parent meetings or seminars in the early evening, and, where necessary, communication out of hours to ensure the welfare of the students.  We anticipate that the successful candidate will work between two and four days per week; candidates should indicate their availability on the application form, and working hours can be discussed at interview.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Fully completed application forms should be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com as soon as possible.  Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form.  CVs alone will not be accepted.

There is no closing date for this vacancy.

Applications will be considered on receipt and interviews may occur at any stage.
