We are seeking two experienced Counsellors to join the Steps to Wellbeing Service in Southampton
These 2 posts are offered on a part time basis of 22.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract for 6 months.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the appropriate skills, experience and qualifications to join a highly motivated and committed team providing a counselling service to adults experiencing mild to moderate depression. You would normally be expected to provide a counselling service within GP surgeries and/or community venues in the city however, due to the current Covid19 restrictions the majority of the sessions are now to be offered remotely via video conferencing platforms and/or telephone. In keeping with the service protocol some face-to-face sessions will to be provided in Covid-secure venues, according to the needs of the service. DHC will provide all appropriate PPE and undertakes staff risk assessments in keeping with government guidelines.
It is essential that you are able to work in a time limited way within a 6-8 session model.
Steps to Wellbeing clinics run throughout the week Monday to Thursday 8:30am until 8:00pm; Fridays 8.30 – 5.30 pm and Saturdays 9:00- 2:00pm. You will be required to work flexibly in line with this to meet service needs.
The successful candidate will have a Diploma/Degree in Counselling and will have achieved accreditation with the BACP or equivalent professional body. Applicants who have not achieved this accreditation may be considered for a Band 5 post. The service is committed to supporting staff in continuing professional development, and actively encourages counsellors to maintain and develop their professional qualifications.
You should also have excellent administration and communication skills, and be able to work well as part of a team. Experience of working within a similar service is highly desirable.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff.
Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
