Location – To be co-located between Just for Kids Law offices (Islington) and The Children’s Society Offices

The Children’s Society is at an exciting stage of its journey, with a new organisational goal and renewed commitment to reverse the damaging decline in Children’s wellbeing.  This role sits within our Youth Impact directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country.

We are looking for an experienced and creative Qualified Therapist/ Counsellor to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary practice team.  This role will be work as part of an innovative new partnership between The Children’s Society and Just for Kids Law, as part of a 12-month pilot programme. The role will be integrated into Just for Kids Law’s Programmes & Participation Team and work with JfKL clients providing 1-to-1 counselling and therapeutic group work to children and young people aged 10 – 25 years old who have unmet mental health needs and have experience of care, the criminal justice system, school exclusion, homelessness and the immigration system.

 

In order to be successful in this role, you must have: 

  • A relevant counselling or therapy qualification at Diploma level or above such as Diploma in Counselling, Psychotherapy or Clinical Psychology and be registered with BACP, UKCP, NCS or HCPC
  • Relevant experience in working with vulnerable children and young people as a counsellor/ therapist, particularly in working with young people from black and minoritized communities.
  • Experience in working therapeutically with trauma.
  • An understanding of the impact of systemic inequality and how this negatively impacts the children and young people Just for Kids Law works with
