YMCA Downslink Group Dialogue School Counselling is an established, BACP accredited school counselling service covering Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex and Surrey. We are currently looking for a qualified counsellor with experience of working with school age children to join our team and deliver the school counselling service at St Martins Church of England Primary School.

You’ll have experience in working with primary aged children and will be familiar with using creative therapeutic approaches such as art, play and sand tray. You’ll have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well. You’ll be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and have experience of working in a school setting.

You will work closely with the school key contact to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical counselling service to the pupils of the school. This will include undertaking assessments with parents, agreeing a regular session schedule with the school and completing all associated admin in a timely manner. You will be required to attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.

Key requirements:
• Graduate or Post graduate level Counselling Diploma or equivalent [of two years minimum duration including personal counselling or psychotherapy].
• BACP Registration or Accreditation or eligibility for Professional Accreditation (or equivalent professional body)
• Experience in individual counselling with children and or young people to include working with risk issues.
• Experience of using creative therapeutic techniques such as play, art, sand tray etc.
• A sound understanding of Child Protection & Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding issues, policies and procedures.
