Gloucestershire Care Services is commissioned to provide a psychosexual service for residents of Gloucestershire and this is set within the Sexual Health Services based in Hope House and situated at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester.
The service is integrated within the sexual health clinic and provided by a lead consultant and psychosexual therapist. Full administrative support is provided for this service.
The specialised psychosexual therapist will work to provide:
- Short/ medium term therapy for those residents who are experiencing sexual dysfunction and have no underlying mental health diagnosis or physical issues.
The post holder will also have management responsibility for
- Sexual Violence Counsellors (1.2 WTE) who provide early intervention and pre and post-trial counselling across the two main sexual health sites in Gloucester and Cheltenham. This service is commissioned and provided with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre which is also located at Hope House.
- HIV Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor (0.3 WTE) who provides therapy for the HIV cohort within Gloucestershire and in-house supervision for sexual violence counsellors and SARC crisis workers.
Counselling supervision is funded to support the post holder according to BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and CoSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) guidelines.
Hours are not set as the role exists to provide a flexible service for clients within the Monday to Friday 9 am – 7 pm timeframe.
