Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (pro rata)

Service Overview

Options Trent Acres is a newly opened service, situated on a 12 acre site offering an integrated residential, education and care package for children between ages 8 and 19 years and who may have a wide range of complex needs such as Autism, associated learning disabilities, ADHD, as well as impaired social or cognitive functioning due to early life trauma and attachment difficulties. We have a dedicated staff team who are focused on the delivery of high quality, child centred, bespoke packages of care and education. Our service is in within easy reach of Stoke, Derby, Telford, Stafford, Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Burton-on-Trent, Tamworth, Uttoxeter and surrounding towns.


Job Summary and Duties

We are looking for a qualified HCPC registered Art Therapist to join our embedded multi-disciplinary clinical team based within our specialist school and residential service for children with complex needs.

With relevant experience in Art, Drama, or Music creative therapy you will be involved in assessment and therapeutic intervention directly with the children and will be instrumental as a member of this newly developing multi-disciplinary clinical team working in a fully integrated way with care and education. You will support the creation and delivery of a therapeutic milieu working closely as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will provide consultation, advice, information and training to staff enhancing their understanding and practice. You will work to gather, maintain and monitor outcome measures and keep up to date with best practice.

This key position will report to the Consultant Clinical Lead for the designated Clinical Multi-disciplinary team. Professional supervision and support is available from within the Options Group where similar roles exist on other sites.

This role is covering maternity leave working on a part time basis, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, (9.00 am – 5.00 pm, although some flexibility may be required)


Key Skills Required

  • Registered with Regulatory Body HCPC.
  • Relevant knowledge, understanding and experience of working as a therapist with children with ASC, attachment disorders and associated difficulties.
  • Experience and skills in staff consultation & training
  • Experience of working effectively within an Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Understanding of, and ability to work within a Therapeutic Milieu
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, developmental disabilities and attachment theory
