Sessional Family Support Counsellor Required: London
Missing People’s counselling service provides therapeutic support to family members of missing people who are already being supported by the charity.
Counselling is primarily offered by telephone, however the family members are offered choice and control and are able to access video calls.
Our counsellors are experienced and highly skilled practitioners who are able to transfer their skills to supporting family members experiencing the ‘ambiguous loss’ of someone being missing.
You will work directly with individuals, both children and adults assessed as suitable for counselling support and be responsible for establishing and maintaining supportive counselling relationships with family members of missing people.
You will work within Missing People’s unique framework of support, providing therapeutic intervention to assist the individual, to improve their emotional wellbeing and ability to cope.
Specialist training will be provided to support Counsellors to understand the particular needs of families of missing people, including on ‘ambiguous loss’.
Regular clinical supervision is provided.
