West Highland College UHI is looking to appoint a Student Counsellor and Wellbeing Service Co-ordinator to develop and implement College specific, student informed activities and services to address student mental health issues.
The aim of the role is to improve student mental health and wellbeing and support the student experience resulting in improved educational outcomes for students.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide consultation, assessment and individual counselling sessions for enrolled college students who require assistance with personal issues, along with assessing and managing risk to individuals and following College safeguarding procedures accordingly.
A further requirement of the role will be to develop and co-ordinate external resource to ensure opportunities of access across all centres.
We are looking for a counsellor who is educated to at least SCQF Level 10 and who holds a professional qualification in Counselling (e.g. PG Diploma or equivalent).
Accreditation with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) or equivalent is also essential.
The role has considerable autonomy and requires excellent organisational and collaborative skills.
